I love giving and receiving Christmas cards. Growing up, we’d put ones we received up on the Christmas tree. These years, my wife won’t let me clutter up our tree, but we have a little holiday card holder thingy to display them. Our family has joined in with other friends and over the last five years have given out photo Christmas cards. But there’s something nostalgic about the old paper kind with artwork on the front.
This year, I was particularly excited to receive such cards from FUNimation and from one that was beautifully handmade by one of our co-bloggers, Goldy!
The more traditional anime Christmas card, if that’s word, is a digital one. You’ll find a ton of varying (mostly poor) quality by doing a quick Google search, but there are some great ones out there. And wouldn’t you know it, blogger extraordinaire Yuma has some up on her website that are ready to download and send out. The Cowboy Bebop one below is my favorite:
Some creative and innovative individuals have created anime Christmas cards that you can purchase. This Totoro one is lovely, but I can’t seem to find it on Etsy any longer; I discovered it through the wonderful Girl Gone Geek blog:

Of course, not be outdone, that giant of a site, Amazon, has a couple of anime Christmas cards as well, from Susan Brown Designs, titled Anime Christmas Shopper and Lonely Anime:

I looooove cards and letters sent through snail mail, which is silly since I’m one of the first people to slack off when it comes to me sending them out to friends and family. And yet, I squeal whenever I get a card from my old Japanese exchange students. One way I handle this around Christmas is to make my own little cards on Photoshop and post them on my friends’ profiles on MAL, or to hand out signatures to my pally-os on AnimeSuki Forums. I may do something similar through blogs now that I’m involved there, too. Thanks for sharing!

Definitely a very Buddhist ending – but as with Madoka, it’s definitely easy to make some connections to Christianity. I think I’ll have a post up about it tomorrow. 🙂
French manga publisher Pika gave away some Christmas cards. That was pretty adorable. I love cards.
